Cara's Latest News

The Annual RWA Conference is always a fun time to connect with fellow authors and celebrate the craft of writing with lots of workshops and a gala Awards Ceremony, where the RITAS, the "Oscars" of the romance industry, are announced. As you can see there are many parties . . . here I am with my roomates Michelle Willingham and Amanda McCabe/Laurel McKee having a blast at the Harlequin evening. For more pictures, check out the Writer's Life on my Diversions page.

Huzzah! The third book of the "Circle of Sin" trilogy, To Tempt A Rake, now has a cover! I'm thrilled with it, and thought I'd share a sneal peek. Look for Kate and Marco's story to hit bookstores in February 2011.

The other hot news for summer is that the second book in my "Circle of Sin" trilogy, To Surrender To A Rogue, is now on the shelves. It's set in the city of Bath, which is a fabulously interesting place. Want to know more? Then come take a short stroll through its history with me on my "Diversions" page.

And want an even better in-depth look at the Roman baths?

James Jacquehart (Black Jack) Pierson, the hero of To Surrender To A Rogue, is, among his many talents, an accomplished watercolor artists, so another fun new entry under "Diversions" is a short history on British watercolor artists. As you've probably guessed, I'm a history geek, and love research, so check out some of the other offbeat articles.

My research also uncovered this delightful print of Angelo's fencing salon, which plays a small role in To Surrender To A Rogue. Kate and Marco have a heated clash there . . . but if you want to know more, you'll just have to read the book!

Another highlight of the season was an invitation to talk about writing, inspiration, and the importance of chocolate in a writer's life over at blogtalk radio. I had a wonderful time chatting with listeners, who asked some really interesting questions! Want to hear the entire interview? Just click the link below.

In other news,
I recently read from To Sin With A Scoundrel at
Lady Jane's Salon in downtown NYC. As always, it was a wonderful evening, packed with fans of romance enjoying good fellowship, good cheer and good good books!

And lastly, fellow romance author Lauren Willig and I have finished teaching a college seminar on historical romance at Yale. (You can read about it here and here.) Fabio made a cameo appearance at our last class, where the students shared their final creative projects. We've had a lot of requests for our class syllabus and supplemental reading list, and so we are delighted to share it with you. Just click on the icons below to download them. Happy reading!
